Why would we sell non-Egyptian Cotton products?
Although we love Egyptian Cotton, there are some applications for which it is not appropriate... particularly as an insulator. Cotton fibers tend to aubsorb moisture and rapidly loose their insulation ablilties as they become wet. Down (Natural or Synthetic) is a much better insulator than cotton because the fibers are "fluffier" and less dense than cotton resulting in a comforter that is warmer and lighter.

Down Alternative vs. Goose Down:
Natural Goose Down has long been recognized as one of nature's most effective insulators. If you're looking for the ultimate in light fluffy comforter... there is no substitute. However, Down has a few of drawbacks... it's expensive, usually requries dry-cleaning and some people may expereience allergic reactions when exposed to it. While our down has been thurougly cleaned to reduce this risk, if you have severe allergies to down products you should probably pick a comforter with synthetic down. 

Fabric Engineers have been working for years to create insulation materials that mimic the desireable properties of Down without some of its drawbacks. Currently available products insulate almost as well as Down, are less expensive  and are usually machine washable.
